Short Bio

Jennifer has over 20 years of experience in the mind/body field. She began her formal Pilates training in Los Angeles at Performing Arts Physical Therapy under the direction of Melinda Bryan (certified and ordained by 1st generation Pilates Master Romana Kryzanowska). Jennifer’s training during these years included workshops, testing and continuing education seminars with Romana Kryzanowska as well as other Classical Pilates greats like Siri Darma, Jillian Hessel and Jay Grimes. Jennifer taught with Jay Grimes at PAPT for 2 years and took over his clientele when he left which was a very high honor for such a young teacher.

Jennifer was very grateful for excellent training and the roots in Classical Pilates but knew there was more to discover. She completed two more Comprehensive Professional Pilates Certifications. The first was with PhysicalMind Institute where she had the honor of studying with renowned movement therapist Marika Molnar.

Next Jennifer went study with Marie Jose Blom at Long Beach Dance Conditioning. This experience would prove to be a life changing experience and Marie Jose continues to mentor and inspire Jennifer’s work to this day.

Jennifer has been holding teacher-training courses in her own Fusion Pilates Pre & Post Natal Specialist program across the US and in Japan since 2003. She is the owner and director of Fusion Pilates DVD’s, which specialize in DVD programs for women’s fitness. Jennifer released two new DVD’s created for the Pilates Professional in 2009. These programs include Pre & Post Natal modifications for the Reformer, the Wunda Chair and the Cadillac.

Jennifer began conducting a Comprehensive Professional Pilates Program in 2007 with courses offered in Asheville, Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Jennifer Gianni’s Personal History

Jennifer grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, where she was active in dance and athletics. At the age of thirteen, she began working out with her mother at The Firm’s headquarters in Columbia. Jennifer was lucky enough to have witnessed the filming of The Firm’s very first video, and it was here that she first fell in love with the exercise field and began to see it as a lifestyle and career for herself.

Jennifer (then Peluso) kept working out at The Firm and became a teacher there at the age of eighteen. She soon became involved with the making of their videos and took part as a cast member, choreographer and lead in several of their very best workout tapes.

In time, Jennifer began to feel that her overall exercise plan was too narrow in scope. She spent the next seven years getting the highest quality training available in Pilates, Yoga and Gyrotonic® from the most respected names in the business, including Romana Kryzanowska, Juliu Horvath and Bryan Kest.

Once she had the building blocks from all of these different disciplines, Jennifer began formulating her own method by infusing the most effective components from each discipline and adding her own original content. This Body/Mind approach became her passion, and the outcome is Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates Method.

Studio History

Jennifer Gianni founded her first studio, called Embodyment, utilizing the concept that Pilates, Yoga, and Gyrotonic® could be combined to create customized work out programs for each client according to their individual mind/body goals.

Embodyment studio began in a small garage behind Jennifer’s house in Venice, California. Within a year her client roster was full to overflowing (even celebs like Hilary Swank visited the old garage!) and it was time to expand. The studio expanded two more times in the next five years and became the home to twelve excellent and dedicated teachers.

In 2006, Jennifer decided to merge this thriving studio with Angel City Body Kinetics in Marina del Rey, owned and operated by her mentor and Pilates legend, Marie Jose-Blom. Jennifer still travels back and forth to teach at ACBK, but in an effort to simplify her families lifestyle, has relocated to Asheville, NC where she has opened a studio that is the culmination of all of her experience to date. “This studio is everything I’ve always thought a studio should be. We have the most up to date Pilates and Gyrotonic® equipment, it’s a gorgeous and soothing space, and it has a private and comfortable environment that’s sometimes missing in fitness facilities,” says Jennifer.

Fusion Pilates Asheville also allows Jennifer to realize her dream of opening a facility that is not only a cutting edge studio for teaching Pilates and Gyrotonic® to clients, but a training center where instructors can come to improve their skills as well. The studio will offer teacher training courses in The Fusion Pilates Method™ (a comprehensive Pilates training), Fusion Pilates™ for Pre & Post Natal™, Gyrotonic® Training and workshops of interest that will be open to teachers and serious clients.

“The most important thing to me is that we stay at the forefront of what’s out there,” says Jennifer. “If we’re constantly learning and bringing new things into the studio, we will keep the studio growing and will keep our clients interested.”
